Outfit of the Day: Thanksgiving

I spent Thanksgiving in Virginia. Love the country atmosphere and I had to take advantage of the scenic view.

I wore burgundy/oxblood which is the color of the season. I love how it compliments the colors of the leaves. I opted to go for a country look flannel shirt( Target) high wasted shorts(thirfted DIY), and knees highs (Top Shop), oxblood turtle neck crop-top (Asos)

Fashion of The day: Mixing Prints

My Style is an expression of me. I don't follow trends, I just do me! Rules are made to be broken, in fashion that is! I recently read a post on FashionBombDaily about mixing prints and I was totally inspired. I love the ideas of playing with colors, mix-matching and still making it work! Some people are afraid to think outside the box, try new things, and explore their different levels of personal style. I say go for it, YOLO! :)

  • Boots: David Z (soho nyc)
  • Shirt: Macy's
  • Pencil skirt: Forever21

Miss Rich Tip: Mixing Prints is easy, and will never go out of style. Choosing colors that compliments  each other is a key to rocking this look. Wether it's bold or nude colors. I chose bold because, thats just the type a girl I am, I like to make a statement. Remember the most important tip I give you, is forget about the rules of fashion and just do your thing. It's personal style, be true, be you, and own it!

What's Hot: 90's Style Sunglasses

History repeats itself, and so does fashion. Remember, how last year it was all about the 80's fashion, with the oversize sunglasses, gold banners across the top. Now it's all about the 90's! Growing up in the 90's this was a major trend round sunglasses! I remeber seeing all my favorite artist in a pair of Round shades, it was the trend back then. My favorite group then Immature were notorious for this look. Now everyone is wearing this 90's style trend. Movie stars, singers and everyday people have gravitated to the 90's.

Love the retro vibe I get from these glasses. Gives off an instant glam look with any outfit you wear. Here's some of my favorites!!!

I love Rihanna's vintage Chanel sunnies, so glam so chic. Which pair would you wear?

Hurricane Sandy in NYC

As many know Hurricane Sandy has hit NYC and the Tri-State area. As a born and raised New Yorker I am feeling the effects of her raft. Although her reign has affected everyone, some more than others, I am thankful that my family and friends are okay at this time. During the beginning of the storm it seemed like a hoax, telling people to evacuate, saying it's not safe, when it was just windy outside, no rains and a cool breeze.

It was until Tuesday evening 10/30/2012 that things took a turn for the worse. I prayed families took heed to the warnings. The winds began knocking trees out the grounds from the roots, and telephone wires, ripped from poles were dancing in the streets as the rain and winds began to whirl. It was bad! I lost power for about a day and a half and thank God the house was okay, no flooding and no damage.

However the devastation of the Hurricane looked like a scene from The Day After. Atlantic City, under water, Jersey Shore, under water, even Coney Island, under water. These are places I frequent often. So even though my property itself wasn't damaged, I still felt the hurt Sandy caused, these places are like my backyard, my play ground. What really hit the hardest was seeing the affect Hurricane Sandy had on Lower Manhattan. Now, I may live in SI but I am a city girl all the way, and I take the ferry every single day, which leaves me there in Lower Manhattan, and to see how the water just swallowed it up, complete devastation, and words cannot express how this video below made me feel. Watch below

My heart goes out those who were affected tremendously by the storm, those who lost there lives, homes, and family members, my condolences to you all. We are still being affected. Nov 4, and there are still families without power in their homes, food to eat, and a place to stay and gas to fuel their cars. Stay Strong. And to those reading this Nov. 6 please Rock The VOTE and VOTE!!#Team Obama!!

Fall and Winter Trends: Fur

The time of year has come! Time to get cozy and warm. While you're running the streets either work, shopping, or just kicking it. What better way to look chic, and stay warm at the same time?! Adding fur to your wardrobe, will give you that boost to take your style to the next level. A vest, crop jacket, fur collars or scarves they're all acceptable, on-trend and chic in this weather.

I love the look of fur, wether it's faux or not, it adds and instant glamour to any outfit. If you're wearing jeans a long sleeve tee and combat boots adding a fur vest will take you from casual to chic in no time. For ladies night out take your look to the next level by pairing your fur cropped jacket with a leather skirt or dress, leather is huge right now, and very weather appropriate. For a business casual environment try pairing a blazer with a fur lapel collar this accessory is a must for any fashionista on the go.

Here's a few of my favorite looks below! And stay tuned for video from my YouTube channel MissRichTV

Hollywood Glam: Halloween Outfit of the Night!

If I can dress like this everyday I would! I love playing dress up, and Halloween is my favorite time of year to do so. Any chance I get to invoke my inner glammed out goddess, Im on it! So heres my take on 1920s, Old Hollywood, Harlem Renaissance, Flapper dancer look. Simply adore it!

Believe it or Not, anyone can achieve this look for Halloween! Just gather items from your closet!
Dress: Armani Exchange (purchased 3yrs ago)
Gloves: Boutique (Soho few mnths ago)
Feather boa and Feather head-dress: Rickey's Halloween Store to complete my look 1920s Hollywood look.

I was inspired by the effortlessness and chic look of the past divas. Such as, Josephine Baker and classiness of the Harlem Renaissance women. I also love the Keri Hilson's rendition of the flapper look in her "Pretty Girl Rock" video. She killed it!

I love old Hollywood Glamour I may keep these period pieces coming for next years Halloween. Maybe I'll do 1940s pin-up

Miss-Rich Tip: When it comes time to dress up for Halloween, I love to think outside the box. The best costumes for me is one with character! One where you can honestly see yourself as that person or image. You don't always have to be a sex-kitty, ghoul or goblin. Have fun with it as I always say, Happy Halloween! See you at the parade NYC!

On Scene: MissRichTv Occupy Wall St

Yes, Im on the move once again, and I stumble upon the Occupy Wall Street protest in NYC. I was in the midst of a stampede of people yelling at the tops of their lungs for  a "Revolution" and other reasons, such as equality, pollution and politics. I find that I'm always in the middle of something, so when it goes down, I grab my camera and start shooting. That what being a journalist is all about. Plus, Its always cool seeing people come together and take a stand for what they believe in, even if it's for several different reasons. Take a look at my video below!

What do you feel about the Occupy Wall Street acts, do you feel they're are justified in their acts or do you think, they're just a bunch of slackers sleeping on the streets and rallying to make noise??

Fashion Night Out: Outfit of the Night!

A night at the Opera!... Its my fave time of year Fashion Week!! Heres a look of my Outfit of the Night!!
I chose this vintage Mara Hoffman button up-which I absolutely adore- an A-line shirt, and my Aldo Platform wedge patent leather shoes. Accessories with a collar-necklace -which is a big trend this Fall- and a few random bangles to complete the look, I chose my Law bag (big enough to fit some flats) JustFab... loves it!!

MissRich Tip: Fashion Week advice 101 is you're out and about heading to different shows and mingling under the tents! You're gonna need to bring a BIG bag -big enough to fit some flats inside and your heels inside after you take them off! Thank me later!

Miss Rich TV: Versace/Givenchy inspired DIY project

This was a fun project to make. I am truly starting to enjoy DIY(Do It Yourself) projects. I love seeing my visions become a reality. To me, thats what fashion is all about. Having a dream, idea, vision, and a plan and making it become reality. I love the idea of walking art. That is really what drew me to make these pieces. I was inspired by a fellow Youtuber UrbanIcon82 his vision are DOPE!!! He also has crazy fashion sense. I, of put my very own Miss Rich spin on things, and re-vamped it up! He was also impressed with my take on the whole Versace/Givenchy Aztec print T-shirt. Now I will say this, it was quite difficult to do because I chose to free hand the design. I opted not to sketch it before hand, why I don't know, I  guess I just love to challenge myself, and I think it came out nicely, tell me what you think leave a comment below..... and please subscribe to my Youtube channel MissRichTV
